Again, ambulances could not provide timely service Apr 21, 2017, LUDHIANA: Once again, 108 emergency ambulance service failed to provide timely medical aid to the accident victims. On Thursday morning, a Punjab Roadways bus hit a pickup van on Ludhiana-Malerkotla Road, killing a woman and injuring 11 others. There were only four ambulances that reached the spot, one after the other. An eyewitness, Sarabjit Singh, of Alamgir said, "All women were injured, some were unconscious and some semi-conscious. It was a horrifying accident and they needed immediate medical aid. First, only one ambulance came and took only two patients. Then another came after half-an-hour, followed by two more. Some injured were taken to the hospital in the car of a commuter." Manager of the ambulance service Jagdeep Singh said, "Ludhiana has 11 ambulances and on an average four are out of city with referred cases. As a result, the city faces a shortage. MAXIS CRITICAL CARE IS LAUNCHING 30 MINUTE AMBULANCE ON PHONE IN DELHI AND NCR

MAXIS CRITICAL CARE has launched a specialised emergency service to help needy patients with ambulances within a maximum of 30 minutes of receiving a call. People can dial the emergency number 80 81 81 81 78  to avail of the service, for which the charges are Rs.1,500 per incident. Speaking about the initiative, Maxis Critical care clinical director Dr. RAMESH KUMAR  said: “Presently in India, there is a shortage of emergency medical services and with increasing incidents of trauma, cardiac issues, stroke and other medical emergencies, there is a strong need for a medical emergency response system in Delhi-National Capital Region. In an emergency, every minute counts. Life can be saved if medical help/treatment is provided at the earliest.
